American Flood Coalition Recognizes Representative Jason Crow as a Federal Champion
As Colorado communities face stronger storms and more frequent flooding, Rep. Jason Crow commits to driving solutions to build resilience.
WASHINGTON, DC — August 8, 2024 — The American Flood Coalition today recognized Representative Jason Crow (D-CO-06) as a Federal Champion for his leadership, public service, and commitment to delivering proactive solutions to the challenges posed by flooding, as well as other natural hazards.
”Coloradans are continuing to face more extreme weather, from intense heat waves to destructive wildfires and flash floods. Making our communities more resilient takes bold action and smart solutions — I’m proud to work alongside the American Flood Coalition to deliver,” said Representative Crow. “As AFC’s first Federal Champion from Colorado, I’ll keep fighting to protect our families, economy, and way of life in the West.”
Rep. Crow joins 47 bipartisan AFC Federal Champions, those members of Congress dedicated to advancing solutions to stronger storms and more frequent flooding. As the first Federal Champion from Colorado, Rep. Crow brings his military service, legal background, and unique geographic perspective to managing floods and related hazards in the Centennial State.
“With Colorado facing wildfires, drought, and intense rainfall, Congressman Crow has been a steadfast champion for coordinated local, state, and federal efforts to better protect communities across the West,” said Melissa Roberts, AFC’s Executive Director. “As our Coalition works to strengthen flood protection across the country, we are proud to recognize Congressman Crow’s leadership to help state and local leaders better anticipate and respond to these challenges.”
Rep. Crow has prioritized efforts to ensure federal policy empowers smarter state planning, better project development and implementation, and to build technical capacity within states, tribes, and territories. Such holistic flood planning makes it easier for all communities on the front lines of flooding to build resilience.
