American Flood Coalition Recognizes Representative Zach Nunn as a Federal Champion
As Iowa faces stronger and more frequent storms, Rep. Nunn commits to leading smart, proactive flood solutions.
WASHINGTON, DC — April 13, 2023 — The American Flood Coalition today recognized Representative Zach Nunn (R-IA) as a Federal Champion for his leadership, public service, and commitment to finding proactive solutions to challenges posed by flooding.
“Growing up in Iowa, we all know how severe weather and flooding can impact not only farmers’ livelihoods but also our entire communities,” said Congressman Zach Nunn. “Flood mitigation is critical to Iowa’s prosperity, and as an American Flood Coalition Federal Champion, I look forward to working with this bipartisan coalition to deliver common sense policies that protect all Iowans.”
Rep. Nunn joins 33 bipartisan AFC Federal Champions, those members of Congress dedicated to advancing solutions to stronger storms, more frequent flooding, and rising seas. He is the second Federal Champion from Iowa, joining Rep. Ashley Hinson as a proponent of innovative flood solutions from the Hawkeye State.
“We are thrilled to welcome Representative Nunn to our impressive roster of Federal Champions as he brings unique expertise to tackling the urgent challenge of flooding in the Midwest,” said Melissa Roberts, Executive Director of the American Flood Coalition. “As an advocate for farmers and agriculture issues, Representative Nunn is poised to spearhead proactive solutions that advance greater flood protection in Iowa and beyond.”
Rep. Nunn represents the greater Des Moines area, which experienced catastrophic flooding during the “Great Flood” of 1993 and again in 2018.
