American Flood Coalition Recognizes Representative Rodney Davis as a Federal Champion
As Illinois communities face stronger storms and more frequent flooding, Rep. Davis commits to driving solutions to address flooding and sea level rise.
WASHINGTON, DC — May 17, 2022 — The American Flood Coalition today announced that Representative Rodney Davis (R-IL) has been named a Federal Champion, in alignment with the nonpartisan, national alliance dedicated to advancing proactive solutions to frequent flooding, stronger storms, and rising seas.
“Assisting with disaster preparedness and mitigation is an important partnership the federal government has with our local communities,” said Rep. Rodney Davis. “Taxpayers are well-served when investments are made on the front-end to mitigate natural disasters like flooding before it occurs. That’s why I’m honored to receive this recognition from the American Flood Coalition. I represent many river communities who face constant flood risk, and I’m working in Congress to make sure they have tools and resources to protect their infrastructure, property, and even lives from natural disasters.”
Rep. Davis is the 29th Federal Champion recognized by the American Flood Coalition, a designation given to leaders who are passionate about finding national solutions to flooding. He is the first Federal Champion from Illinois, joining a coalition of over 280 members across 21 states.
“I am excited to welcome Representative Davis as a Federal Champion,” said Melissa Roberts, Executive Director of the American Flood Coalition. “As a sponsor of the Resilience Revolving Loan Fund Act and the Safeguarding Tomorrow Through Ongoing Risk Mitigation (STORM) Act, Rep. Davis has helped communities proactively address flood risk.”
Rep. Davis has been a steadfast proponent of proactive disaster preparedness and smart investments in flood resilience, giving local governments the flexibility they need to respond to mounting disaster impacts.
“Congressman Davis was a critical voice in the introduction, signing, and funding of the STORM Act. The Resilience Revolving Loan Fund will empower cities like Grafton to leverage $500 million in funding to support innovative approaches to protect our communities. His vision and leadership have enabled us to realize new mitigation tools.” – Grafton, IL, Mayor Mike Morrow
