George Bandy Jr. is a Senior Advisor to the American Flood Coalition, where he lends his expertise in sustainability leadership to support the continued development and strategic engagement of the Coalition and its partnerships. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors for Green Business Certification Inc., an organization which recognizes excellence in global green business industry performance. He also was recently appointed to the IIDA Board of Directors, a non-profit organization focused on advancing sustainable interior design globally. He was also recognized as a 2020 Living Future Hero by the International Living Future Institute.
Throughout his career and most recently in his role as Chief Sustainability Officer for Mohawk Industries, George has led and championed sustainability efforts for private and public institutions. During his 25 years of experience, George has held the role of Chairman for the US Green Building Council; served on the board of Second Nature, a nonprofit that champions sustainability integration into learning in higher education institutions; and served as the Sustainability Officer for the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
George graduated from Morehouse College with his bachelor’s degree in English, and he holds a LEED Accredited Professional certification from USGBC.
