Gian Tavares

Associate Strategy Director

Gian is the Associate Strategy Director at the American Flood Coalition, where he develops partnerships and outreach strategies and prepares research about the impacts of flooding and sea level rise for groups and communities.

Before joining AFC, Gian was a Public Safety Policy Analyst at Booz Allen Hamilton. While there, he worked in the Civil Services Division, where he supported federal departments and agencies in developing their emergency communications strategies. Previously, Gian worked for the Cadmus Group, where he assisted federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial stakeholders in their assessments of disaster preparedness.

Gian holds a bachelor’s degree in international studies from American University and a master’s degree in emergency and disaster management from Georgetown University.
