Anna Kleinsasser is the Associate State Policy Director at the American Flood Coalition, where she manages state policy development, leading a structured process as AFC continues to expand and deepen this work.
Prior to joining AFC, Anna was a Project Manager at Michael Baker International, where she worked directly with FEMA on its Community Engagement & Risk Communication contract. Her work there spanned FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program, Flood Mapping Program, and Hazard Mitigation Planning Program.
Previously, Anna worked at the U.K.’s Environment Agency — Europe’s largest environmental regulator — where she coordinated Flood Risk Management Plans for the Thames River Basin. She began her career at the Community Preservation Corporation in New York, where she implemented Hurricane Sandy recovery through HUD’s Build It Back Program.
Anna holds a bachelor’s degree in international studies and writing seminars from Johns Hopkins University and a master’s degree in urban planning from the National University of Singapore.
