Alec Bogdanoff

Science Advisor

Alec is the Science Advisor at American Flood Coalition. As a native Floridian and policy-trained oceanographer and meteorologist, he works across Florida and nationally to support the Coalition and its mission. 

Alec has nearly two decades of political experience, with a heavy focus on science communication, and has spoken before the Climate Solutions Caucus and Florida legislature about the financial implications of sea level rise. He previously served as a Knauss Sea Grant Fellow for a U.S. Senator, where he focused on ocean, environmental, climate, and fisheries policy. Alec is also the Principal and Co-Founder of consulting firm Brizaga, where he advises private and public sector clients on resilience and sea level rise. 

Alec holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in meteorology from Florida State University and a doctoral degree in physical oceanography from the joint program in oceanography at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI).
