The Virginia Peninsula Association of REALTORS® is the voice for real estate on the Peninsula, representing nearly 1,100 real estate professionals active in all phases of real estate brokerage, development, and property management in the Peninsula localities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, Smithfield, Isle of Wight County, and York County.
VPAR began in 1920 as the Newport News Real Estate and Insurance Exchange, and boasted a membership of 19. By the 1970s, the Association boasted 340 members and continued to grow until the 1990s. In May of 1996, VPAR broke ground on a new headquarters building and education center located in Hampton. Construction was completed and the building opened its doors in January of 2007. The facility has a 150 seat classroom, an expanded REALTOR® store, as well as first class office space and conference rooms to serve its membership.
VPAR provides its members with education and resources to aid them in conducting business ethically, successfully, and professionally. The organization’s mission is to advocate for the benefit of Virginia Peninsula realtors and the community, acting as the “voice for real estate” on the Virginia Peninsula.
