The Village of Athens Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) is a committee developed to foster unified action on environmental issues in Athens, NY. The council advises the Athens Village Board on issues such as tree inventory, certification as a Climate Smart Community and other issues with environmental impact in the Village.  

The Council is made up of residents interested in natural resources and open space conservation, and is the first of its kind created in Greene County. It serves as an advisory body for matters regardings conservation, zoning and preservation, and provides an environmental perspective on natural resource-based planning. 

Working in partnership with local and state officials, the CAC is uniquely positioned to preserve and improve the natural and human-made environment within the Village of Athens, and enhance the quality of life for residents in the community.
