Victor Rawl

Former County Councilmember, Charleston County-6th District

Victor Rawl served on the Charleston County Council, representing District 6. Previously, he had a private law practice and served in the S.C. National Guard, having retired as a Lt. Colonel.

Rawl’s key issues as a council member are road works, public transport, responsible development, public safety, waste management, responsible spending, and taxation. He serves as the Chairman of the Finance Committee and is on several other committees, namely Planning / Public Works, Criminal Justice Coordinating, Charleston Area Transportation Study (CHATS), Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA), Charleston Regional Development Alliance, and the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments (COG).

Throughout his career in law and public service, Rawl served as Assistant Solicitor, spent two terms in the S.C. House of Representatives, was the S.C. Workers Compensation Commissioner, and also served as a Circuit Court Judge. He is the on the Board of Directors for the League of Women Voters and the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Charleston County Public Defenders Corporation.

Rawl received his B.A. from the College of Charleston and obtained his J.D. from the University of South Carolina (USC) Law School.
