Senator, North Carolina

Senator Ted Budd represents North Carolina in the U.S. Senate.

A native North Carolinian, Mr. Budd was raised on a cattle and commercial chicken farm in Davie County. He received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Appalachian State University and MBA from Wake Forest University. He also holds a master’s in theology and educational leadership from the Dallas Theological Seminary. 

Prior to being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2022, Senator Budd served three terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he represented North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District. 

In the 118th Congress, Senator Budd serves on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation; the Senate Committee on Armed Services; the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions; and the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. 

Senator Budd has prioritized protecting North Carolina communities, infrastructure, and military installations from major storms and flooding. As a member of the Senate Commerce Committee, Senator Budd successfully led a proposal in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act of 2024 to ensure funding from the Airport Improvement Program can be used to enhance flood resilience at airport facilities.  

Senator Budd and his wife, Amy Kate, have three children and live in Davie County, North Carolina.
