The City of Sunrise, located in western Broward County, is home to approximately 92,000 residents and host to several million national and international visitors each year. Sunrise is the 26th largest of Florida’s 400+ incorporated municipalities, as well as one of its most progressive. Broward County is tackling the issue of flooding and sea level rise head-on, with action plans and many resources for residents within its cities and towns. Sunrise benefits from the county’s participation in the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact, which outlines an ongoing collaborative effort among the Compact Counties to foster sustainability and climate resilience at a regional scale.
