Sarah Elfreth

Congresswoman, Maryland

Representative Sarah Elfreth represents Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Rep. Elfreth has been a public servant since 2018, when she was first elected to the Maryland State Senate, becoming the youngest woman to do so. She represented Maryland’s 30th district in the state senate for six years, prioritizing resilience and flooding reform and passing multiple bills that addressed these issues into law.

Rep. Elfreth also represented Maryland on the mulit-state Chesapeake Bay Commission, where she helped coordinate local, state, and federal efforts that addressed the health of the Bay and its surrounding communities.

In 2024 Rep. Elfreth was elected to Congress to represent Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District. Given its proximity to Chesapeake Bay, the district — which encompasses Anne Arundel, Howard, and Carroll counties, as well as the city of Annapolis — has experienced significant impacts from flooding.

Through her service on the House Armed Services and Natural Resources Committees, Rep. Elfreth continues to champion common-sense federal resilience policy.

Rep. Elfreth received her B.A. in political science from Towson University and M.P.P. from Johns Hopkins University. She lives in Annapolis.
