A lifelong Western New Yorker, Representative Tim Kennedy represents New York’s 26th congressional district.
Before beginning his career as a public servant, Mr. Kennedy worked as a licensed occupational therapist, helping geriatric and pediatric populations recover from injuries and fully participate in all life situations.
Mr. Kennedy went on to serve Western New York as an Erie County Legislator from 2005 to 2010 and as a State Senator from 2011 to 2024, chairing the Senate Transportation Committee. During this time, he delivered $100 million for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) to fund a five-year capital plan for maintenance and improvements of the Metro Rail.
In Congress, Rep. Kennedy serves on the House Homeland Security Committee and as the Ranking Member of its Emergency Management and Technology Subcommittee. He is also a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, as well as the Congressional Disaster Preparedness and Recovery Caucus.
Bordering both Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, New York’s 26th congressional district includes parts of Erie and Niagara counties, as well as the cities of Buffalo, Lackawanna, Niagara Falls, Tonawanda, and North Tonawanda. Given the region’s significant flood risk and impacts, Rep. Kennedy has prioritized advancing common-sense solutions to strengthen communities’ resilience and improve the disaster recovery process.
Rep. Kennedy lives in Buffalo with his wife Katie and their three children.
