Rep. Johnny Olszewski

Congressman, Maryland

Congressman Johnny “Johnny O” Olszewski, Jr. proudly represents Maryland’s 2nd District, which includes major portions of Baltimore County, Carroll County, and parts of Baltimore City.

A native Marylander, Rep. Olszewski was born and raised in Baltimore County. Prior to being elected to Congress in 2024, he served as a public-school teacher, has prior service in the Maryland House of Delegates, and was twice elected as Baltimore County Executive, where he led the state’s third-largest jurisdiction and managed a $5 billion government enterprise. He also served as the president of the Maryland Association of Counties from 2023 to 2024.

As Baltimore County Executive, a position he held for six years, Rep. Olszewski prioritized resilience, supporting the creation of a Resilience Authority to identify projects to reduce flooding and impacts from other natural hazards. He also helped lead the local government response to the tragic collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, coordinating among the federal, state, and local levels to respond and recover from the disaster.

In Congress, Rep. Olszewski serves on the House Foreign Affairs and Small Business committees and is a Member of Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) and the Chesapeake Water Shed Taskforce where he continues to advocate for common-sense federal resilience policy and programs.

A product of public schools and a first-generation college graduate, Olszewski holds a bachelor’s degree from Goucher College, a master’s degree from George Washington University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
