Ponce Inlet is a town in Volusia County, Florida, just south of Daytona Beach. The town has a rich history dating back to the 1500s and currently has a population of just over 3,000. Ponce Inlet is a residential haven for those who value nature, quiet, and privacy. It offers a small town lifestyle where people feel safe and have easy access to small scale businesses serving their needs.

Along with awesome waves, Ponce Inlet is best known for being home to Florida’s tallest lighthouse and a marine science center with interactive exhibits, a boardwalk, observation tower and nature trails. At 175 feet and with 203 steps, the lighthouse in Ponce Inlet offers a nice workout for those craving some exercise. Ponce Inlet’s gorgeous beaches are perfect for walking, jogging, sunning, and shelling.

Ponce Inlet’s beautiful location that makes it such a sought after place to live also makes it vulnerable to sea level rise and flooding. In 2018 the Volusia County Integrated Floodplain Management Plan was prepared by the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council for Volusia County Division of Emergency Management. The plan outlines flood risk, including what is exacerbated by sea level rise, and plans to mitigate severe flooding in the county. In addition, the town of Ponce Inlet provides updated flood risk information to its residents to help them maintain a level of preparedness.
