One Hundred Miles

Advocacy Organization

One Hundred Miles is a coastal conservation organization dedicated to protecting and preserving Georgia’s 100-mile coast through advocacy, education, and citizen engagement. Led by a dedicated staff of eleven and a committed nine-member Board of Directors, One Hundred Miles focuses on core issues of water and wetlands, land use, changing climate, and wildlife.

One Hundred Miles builds programs around the guiding principle that preserving the natural features of Georgia coast is critical for long-term quality of life and sustainable economic growth. With this in mind, the organization has four primary goals to guide its work: to protect and preserve the integrity of fresh and saltwater ecosystems throughout coastal Georgia, work with all who love the Georgia coast to conserve its treasured landscapes and implement balanced strategies for growth, to help coastal communities understand and adapt to the impacts of climate change, which include sea level rise and increased storm strength and surge, and connect the scientific community with decision makers to secure healthy populations of coastal Georgia’s signature wildlife species.

As the only organization focused on combating the multiple threats to Georgia’s coastline, One Hundred Miles has engaged more than 10,000 coastal residents, visitors, and elected officials each year, giving communities the tools they need to take action to protect Georgia’s coast.
