The Northend Flood Mitigation Alliance (NFMA) is a community-driven coalition of homeowners and local stakeholders dedicated to reducing flood risk and enhancing coastal resilience in the Northend of Carolina Beach. Formed in response to recurring flood challenges, NFMA develops and promotes collaborative, actionable solutions to minimize flooding frequency, decrease water retention on streets, and build long-term resilience. The Alliance’s priorities include establishing dedicated working groups focused on both immediate flood response measures and forward-looking mitigation strategies. NFMA works closely with the Town of Carolina Beach to support the implementation and maintenance of these efforts. In addition to strengthening local partnerships, NFMA actively raises awareness of community flooding concerns and opportunities—engaging residents, civic groups, and educational institutions while pursuing support through state and federal programs and funding sources. Their work is grounded in a shared commitment to safety, environmental protection, and preserving the long-term economic and social vitality of the Northend community.
