Commissioner Norma Nelda Alvarez has over five decades of residency in Kingsville, and a diverse professional background encompassing roles as a Civic Leader, Educator, School Administrator, Director of Special Education, City Commissioner, and County Commissioner, Norma Alvarez brings a wealth of experience to her current position as a Kingsville City Commissioner. Her family’s ties to Kleberg County trace back to 1884, when her great-great-grandfather was employed by Captain Richard King at the renowned King Ranch.
Raised in Corpus Christi, Norma pursued her education at Texas A & I University, earning both a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of School Administration. She dedicated 46 years to the Kingsville Independent School District before retiring. Norma is married to Al Garcia, a former Kingsville City Commissioner and insurance agent, with whom she shares 40 years of marriage.
