Matthew F. “Matt” Carlucci is the founder and owner of Matthew F. Carlucci Insurance Agency, Inc. He is a 39 year State Farm veteran and a former board member of the Jacksonville Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, which awarded him the 2001 Community Service Award.
Mr. Carlucci holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of North Florida and awarded an alumnus of the year award in 1987.
Matt served three terms on the Jacksonville City Council, including President in 2001-2002. While in public office, he fought for ethics in government, carrying on the tradition of his father, the late State Sen. Joe Carlucci. He authored and successfully championed the 1992 legislation that created the Jacksonville Ethics Commission. For his many efforts, Matt was awarded the Claude J. Yates Award for Outstanding City Council Member on the 25th anniversary of Jacksonville’s consolidated government. He was also recognized by the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce for excellence in government and was the recipient of the Charles D. Webb Award for Outstanding legislative Service. As Council President, Matt was awarded the Jacksonville Historical Society’s Preservation Milestone Award for saving Jacksonville’s most extraordinary corner, “The Laura Street Trio”.
In 2012, Matt was appointed by Governor Rick Scott to the Florida Commission on Ethics from 2012 to 2017. Matt led efforts for the broadest reforms to strengthen ethics laws in the last 35 years in the State of Florida. He served with distinction as chairman in 2016-2017.
In 2019, Matt was elected to his 4th term as an at large member of the Jacksonville City Council. In this role, he recently chaired the Jacksonville City Council Special Committee on Resilience.
Matt has been active in the Jacksonville community, serving as President of the Jacksonville Historical Society and the Jacksonville Police Council, as well as serving on the boards of Communities in Schools, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Theatre Jax Board.
A Jacksonville native, he is a long-time resident of Jacksonville’s San Marco neighborhood, where he resides with his wife of 41 years, the former Karen Lee Signoretti. The Carlucci’s are proud parents of two grown Sons, Matthew Carlucci Jr., Joe Carlucci II, and has 3 grandsons Matthew F. Carlucci III, Joseph A. Carlucci III, Jack Carlucci and a granddaughter Lilliana Kate Carlucci. His hobbies include doing anything with his family, reading Presidential biographies, collecting books on Lincoln and fishing, with an affinity for fly fishing.
The entire family is a member of Southpoint Community Church.
