Commissioner LeAnn Pierce has been a resident of Southeastern North Carolina all her life, working as a hotelier in Carolina Beach for nearly three decades. Her passion for serving the community started back in 2007, when she became a volunteer with the Carolina Beach Boardwalk Makeover project, which led to her involvement with several local committees and boards before deciding to run for political office.
In 2013, LeAnn was elected to the Carolina Beach Town Council for the first time and she was re-elected in 2017. Then in 2019, LeAnn became the first female to serve as mayor for the Town of Carolina Beach. She was elected to the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners in 2022. The East Carolina graduate and mother of two sons has spent her time in public office focusing on efforts in community revitalization, beach renourishment, public safety and emergency preparedness, and looks forward to continuing as an advocate for the community as a member of the Board of Commissioners.
