Karen Rafferty is in her first term as city Commissioner and currently serves as Vice Mayor. She pursued the seat to help protect and enhance the unique quality of life and sense of community in Belleair Bluffs, and to provide a voice for condominium owners. She is a strong advocate for local businesses and community involvement for seniors, and she encourages citizen participation in government. Prior to her election to the city Commission, Karen served on the city’s Planning Board and Charter and Ordinance Review Committee.
After working 4 years in commercial lines insurance, Karen returned to Armstrong State College enrolling as an Applied Math Sciences major in their dual degree engineering program with Georgia Institute of Technology where she earned membership in Pi Mu Epsilon. After retiring from a successful 35-year career in commercial construction, engineering and development, Karen enjoys spending time in the gym and traveling the globe with her husband, Dave. She also serves her community through her volunteer work with Epsilon Sigma Alpha and holds several state and international awards as her local chapter’s educational director.
