Harry Griffin

Former City Councilmember, Charleston, SC-10th District

I have lived in Charleston, SC my entire life. Over the past 23 years, I have seen significant changes to our landscape. Flooding has destroyed homes, broken up families, and diminished our quality of life. Instead of fighting the water in a war we will never win, we must learn to live with it. This organization is a contemporary opportunity to have leaders on the local, state, and federal level work together to end the frustration between our residents and mother nature.

Harry Griffin is a lifelong Charlestonian and served his community on the Charleston City Council, representing the 10th District which encompasses West Ashley. After growing up in Charleston County Schools, Harry graduated from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. While there, he studied politics abroad in London. After graduation, Harry went to work at Neal Brothers, an international logistics company specializing in warehousing, distribution, importing, and exporting. At 22, Harry became the youngest City Councilman in modern history, focusing his efforts on ending flooding in the Church Creek Basin. Harry is currently the Vice-Chair for the City of Charleston Public Works Committee, which handles Storm Water Operations. Outside of work and politics, Harry is very involved in the South Carolina Maritime Association, St. Andrews Rotary, and numerous Republican Organizations.
