However, those same water features make the City vulnerable to flooding, sea-level rise, and storm surge. More than 50% of Hallandale Beach is located in a FEMA Special Flood Hazard Area. In recent decades, the City lost 6 out of its 8 freshwater wells to saltwater intrusion.
