Granjeno is a city located in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The town’s name, “Granjeno,” means “thorny bush” in Spanish, and it is derived from the abundant thorny vegetation that grows in the area. Granjeno has a rich history, and like many other Rio Grande Valley towns, it has been influenced by the cultural and economic ties between the United States and Mexico. Granjeno is situated in the southernmost part of Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley, near the U.S.-Mexico border. It is part of the McAllen-Edinburg-Mission metropolitan area.
