The 91st District stands proud to support all of our citizens, especially those patriotic men and women that support our Military and NASA installations. In partnership with these great federal partners, I am enthused to join the [coalition] to help unlock practical solutions for our recurring flooding issues.
Gordon C. Helsel Jr. is a former member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 91st District. He is a retired businessman, whose professional experience includes owning the York Box & Barrel Manufacturing Co, Inc. Helsel previously served on the Poquoson City Council, then as Vice Mayor, and finally as Mayor.
From 1967 to 1971 Helsel served in the U.S. Army. He was in the Vietnam War and received two Purple Hearts and one Bronze Star. Helsel served on committees for General Laws, Health, Welfare, and Institutions, and Education. Helsel retired after 8 years of service to the General Assembly effective January 2020.
Helsel received his Associate Degree in Occupational Safety and Health from Thomas Nelson Community College.
