Sea level rise is an urgent issue for people all over our nation’s coasts, and especially every family in Virginia Beach and Norfolk. That’s why I’m proud to join the [coalition] – a group that champions environmentally-friendly and economically-sound solutions to sea level rise and flooding.
Frank Wagner is a former State Senator for Virginia’s 7th District. He is an entrepreneur and the is the former President of Davis Boat Works, Inc., a premier small boat repair firm in Newport News that he founded. Previously, he was a member of the House of Delegates. In the United States Navy, Wagner served as a diving and salvage officer and an engineering duty officer.
In 2006, Wagner created legislation that required Virginia to adopt the Virginia Energy Plan, a comprehensive plan for the development of energy resources, including clean coal, oil, natural gas, wind, solar, tide, current, geothermal, nuclear, alternative fuels, coupled with conservation and energy efficiency measures. Wagner also introduced and won passage of legislation to create the Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission.
Wagner served on the Joint Commission on Administrative Rules, Virginia Manufacturing Development Commission, Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission, Autism Advisory Council, Chesapeake Bay Commission, Coal and Energy Commission, Electric Utility Regulation Commission, Joint Subcommittee on Coastal Flooding, Frontier Culture Museum of Virginia Board of Trustees, Federal Action Contingency Trust Fund Approval Advisory Commission, Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization, Joint Commission on Transportation Accountability, State Water Commission, National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL) Agriculture and Energy Committee, NCSL Transportation Committee, Health Insurance Reform Commission, Southern States Energy Board, Unemployment Compensation Commission, and the Southern Legislator’s Conference Energy and Environment Committee.
Wagner received his B.S. in Ocean Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy.
