Flagler Beach

Flagler County, Florida

Flagler Beach is a city in Flagler County, Florida, with a population of just over 5,000. Since its incorporation in April 1925, Flagler Beach has developed as a unique seaside community.

Located along Florida’s Atlantic Coast between Daytona Beach and St. Augustine, cozy Flagler Beach offers miles of sparkling beaches, bountiful fishing, beachside shops, waterfront restaurants, and natural parks and other wonders. Flagler Beach is a retro town with salty style. Friendly residents and open-air restaurants set the stage for a laid-back afternoon. Visitors enjoy Flagler Beach’s eclectic shops, surfing, a classic fishing pier, and over six miles of spectacular ocean views—with free access to the beach. The atmosphere of the city makes it easy to gaze at the ocean from rooftop cafes while listening to the music of local musicians. The natural island environment is still a secret to many, but once visitors put their feet in the sand of Flagler Beach, they’ll feel like a native.

The beautiful location that makes Flagler Beach such a sought after place to live also makes it vulnerable to sea level rise and flooding. The city provides updated flood risk information to its residents to help them maintain a level of preparedness. In addition, Flagler Beach benefits from the Volusia County Integrated Floodplain Management Plan that was prepared by the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council for Volusia County Division of Emergency Management in 2018. The plan outlines flood risk, including what is exacerbated by sea level rise, and plans to mitigate severe flooding in the county.
