Commissioner Evelyn Riley Goldwire was elected to Seat 1 of the City Commission in May of 2018. Her priorities are business development and affordable housing to spur economic growth.
A native of Gretna, Commissioner Goldwire received a Bachelor of Science from The University of Phoenix in Business and Information Technology Systems. She has been a Gadsden County resident and a leader in city and state government in Florida, Texas and Arizona for over forty years. This includes fifteen years of service as the Director of Conference and Travel at the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
Commissioner Goldwire is committed to public service and is actively involved in community efforts designed to enhance the quality of life for all citizens. This includes recreational activities for children, recreational facilities support and program development for senior citizens. She is a lifelong member of St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church where she serves as choir director, and in women’s ministry.
Commissioner Goldwire has three sons: A’Tori Thomas, Tony Goldwire, Jr., and Adrian Goldwire.
