Rep. Erin Houchin

Erin Houchin represents Indiana’s 9th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

A native of southern Indiana, Mrs. Houchin grew up in Scottsburg. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and master’s degree in political management from The George Washington University. Mrs. Houchin went on to work as a Family Case Manager for the Indiana Department of Child Services, and served as Southeast Indiana Regional Director for former Indiana U.S. Senator Dan Coats. Between 2014-2022, she represented southern Indiana as a state Senator before her election to Congress.

In the 119th Congress, Representative Houchin serves on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, the House Committee on Rules, and the House Budget Committee.

Since joining Congress, Rep. Houchin has focused on efforts to strengthen flood resilience and improve the federal disaster recovery process for southern Indiana communities. 

In her capacity as Co-Chair of the bipartisan Ohio River Caucus, Rep. Houchin has supported Ohio River basin restoration efforts to reduce flood risk, support farmers, fuel local economies, and enhance local watersheds. Among other federal investments, Rep. Houchin has spearheaded projects to reduce flooding and improve water quality in Madison, Indiana. 

Mrs. Houchin lives in Salem, Indiana, with her husband, Dustin, and their three children.
