Chris Humphrey is a Republican member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, serving District 12, Lenoir and Southwest Pitt Counties. Born in eastern North Carolina and raised in Kinston, Chris graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has lived and worked in Lenoir and surrounding counties throughout his adult life.
He is the House Majority Freshman Caucus Whip and currently serves on several committees including Health, Insurance, Agriculture, Appropriations, Appropriations – Agriculture and Natural and Economic Resources, Energy and Public Utilities, Finance, House Select Committee on Disaster Relief, Judiciary and Revenue Laws Interim Committee, as well as the Economic Support Working Group for the House Select Committee on COVID-19 .
Prior to winning legislative office, Chris served as a Lenoir County Commissioner and held a seat on the La Grange Town Council. Additionally, he has actively led and served numerous civic and public organizations including the La Grange Chamber of Commerce, Lenoir Community College Board of Trustees, Kinston and Goldsboro Kiwanis Clubs, Goldsboro Civitans, and the Kinston-Lenoir County Life Underwriters Association. Chris is a Shriner, member of the Kinston Rotary Club, and an Eagle Scout.
Chris, his wife and his two daughters and enjoy attending college basketball and football games, visiting Eastern North Carolina beaches as well as Lake Gaston, traveling and spending time with family.
