Chip LaMarca

State Representative, Florida-93rd District

Chip LaMarca is a member of the Florida Legislature representing the 93rd House District, which includes parts of coastal Broward County. Prior to his service in the Legislature, he served as a Broward County Commissioner from 2010 to 2018 and a Lighthouse Point City Commissioner from 2005-2010. Professionally, he followed in his late father’s footsteps by working to bring jobs to Broward through the construction industry, starting LaMarca Construction in 2006.

As a County Commissioner, LaMarca was a dedicated member of the National Association of Counties, serving for many years as the Vice-Chair of the Large Urban County Caucus, and the Chair of the Finance, Pension, and Intergovernmental Affairs Steering Committee. At the Florida Association of Counties, he served as the Chair of the Finance, Tax, and Administration committee. He is also an active member of Leadership Florida and served for six years on the Florida State Fair Authority. In 2016, LaMarca was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Florida Healthy Kids Corporation.

With Broward County, he served on the Fire Rescue Council and the Broward Regional Emergency Medical Services Council, the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization, Broward Cultural Council, and as Chair of the Broward Tourist Development Council. Additionally, he was on the Board of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance and the 6 Pillars Project, as co-chair of the Steering Committee.

Locally, LaMarca serves on the Board of Directors and the Strategic Planning Committee for the Riverwalk Trust and on the Board of Directors of the Museum of Discovery and Science. He also serves as co-chair of the Village Square with Broward College.

LaMarca currently sits on the Energy and Utilities Subcommittee; the Government Operations and Technology Appropriations Subcommittee; the Joint Legislative Auditing Committee; the Judiciary Committee; the Oversight, Transparency, and Public Management Subcommittee; and the PreK-12 Quality Subcommittee.

LaMarca has worked diligently to enhance and renourish beaches, serving as the County Commission’s Beach Renourishment Liaison. In the Legislature, he continues to champion our environment and beaches, working to pass statewide coastal management legislation that will affect Florida’s beaches. He has spoken extensively on community and coastal resilience, as well as preparing for sea level rise and coastal flooding issues.
