Cathy Skurow

Mayor of Portland, TX

Mayor Cathy Skurow has been serving the City of Portland since she was first elected to city council in 2003. During this time, she served three terms as Mayor Pro Tem and, in May 2018, she was elected Mayor of the City of Portland.

Mayor Skurow gives freely of her time for the betterment of the City of Portland, the Coastal Bend region, and the State of Texas. Besides her role as Mayor, she currently serves as a Gubernatorial appointee to the Texas Commission on State Emergency Communications. Some of her other affiliations include board member and past president of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend; board member of the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation; member of the Corpus Christi Metropolitan Planning Organization transportation policy committee; regional advisory board member and past president of the South Texas Botanical Gardens and Nature Center; member and past board member of the Portland Chamber of Commerce; past president of the San Patricio County Economic Development Commission; past president of the Robstown Area Development Commission; and, past temporary director of the San Patricio Groundwater Conservation District.

Mayor Skurow is a Registered Professional Engineer and graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. She has more than thirty-six years of experience in both governmental and private sector projects.
