Carolina Land & Lakes serves as a bridge between local communities, federal and state agencies and other stakeholders to preserve, protect and provide responsible stewardship and utilization of local and environmental resources. Carolina Land and Lakes four priority initiatives are energy, water, wildfire, and community development. These initiatives are supported through education, advocacy and creating innovative programs. Originally established through the 1962 Agriculture Act under the Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the RC&D program evolved through partnerships and legislative support to deepen local conservation efforts. Although federal funding for RC&D ended in 2011, Carolina Land & Lakes RC&D has continued its mission independently, driven by a committed Board of Directors and a dedication to sustainable resource management and community-based environmental initiatives.
