Alma D. Salinas

Mayor of Sullivan City, TX

Mayor Alma D. Salinas of Sullivan City has been representing the community since 2021. Prior to becoming Mayor, Salinas was the director of Library Services and Instructional Resources at the La Joya Independent School District. Having a passion for education and civic engagement, Mayor Salina’s main concern for Sullivan City was accessibility to library and learning services. After becoming Mayor, she made it her mission to secure support and funding opportunities to build a library in the heart of the city. Thanks to her leadership while serving the La Joya Independent School District, Mayor Salinas was able to obtain ten acres for the vision of the library and looks forward to giving back to the people in her community. She is no stranger to local politics, as the wife of the School Board President Oscar “Coach” Salinas, she has been involved in different campaigns and public services for over twenty years in the community, when she first thought about running for City Council.  Mayor Alma D. Salinas is a trailblazer in her community and looks forward to working with the American Flood Coalition on advancing solutions to not only Sullivan City, but throughout the Rio Grande Valley region by partnering with other small cities and towns facing the same issues.
