Sea level rise and recurring flooding are serious matters that impact the lives of all Virginians, not just those who live or work along the coast. I am pleased to work with the [coalition] to advocate for effective federal policies and adequate funding to address the needs of states and localities.
Former Delegate Mark L. Keam was a fifth term member of the Virginia House of Delegates, representing Fairfax County in the oldest law-making body in the New World. As a former legislator with a strong reputation for bipartisanship and effectiveness, Mark has authored numerous Virginia state laws dealing with issues such as job creation and tax reform, public education and healthcare, government transparency and accountability, supporting military veterans, and promoting public safety.
Mark served on the powerful Commerce and Labor Committee as well as on the Education, Finance, and Agriculture, Chesapeake & Natural Resources Committees. He was a founding member of the Joint Subcommittee on Coastal Flooding which was created by the legislature in 2014 to develop and to recommend a comprehensive and coordinated effort to address recurrent flooding in Virginia.
Professionally, Mark has three decades of experiences in both the private and public sectors. Mark has been an entrepreneur, an in-house counsel with a Fortune 15 tech company, the head of a national Asian American chamber of commerce, and an independent business consultant. He has also been an attorney in the executive and legislative branches of federal and local governments, including chief counsel to a United States Senate Assistant Leader. Currently, Mark serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Department. of Commerce’s National Travel and Tourism Office.
Mark holds degrees from the University of California at Irvine and U.C. Hastings College of the Law.
