Representative Don Davis represents North Carolina’s First Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Mr. Davis was born and raised in Snow Hill, North Carolina.
After graduating from the United States Air Force Academy in 1994, he served in the Air Force for eight years. As a First Lieutenant, he coordinated Air Force One and CODEL operations at Andrews Air Force Base.
He then returned to eastern North Carolina to be a professor of aerospace studies at the East Carolina University Air Force ROTC Detachment 600. Mr. Davis also holds an M.A. in administration from Central Michigan University and a doctorate in education from East Carolina University.
At age 29, Mr. Davis became the youngest Mayor of Snow Hill, North Carolina. He served in the role for seven years until his election to the North Carolina State Senate in 2008. He served for six terms before winning his election to Congress in 2022.
In the 118th Congress, Representative Davis serves as the Vice Ranking Member of the House Agriculture Committee and is a House Armed Services Committee member.
As a native eastern North Carolinian, Mr. Davis understands how smart planning and proactive investments can defend lives and livelihoods from the lasting impacts of hurricanes, major storms, and related flooding.
As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, Representative Davis has championed efforts to protect farmers and rural communities from flooding, particularly by introducing the Flooding Prevention, Assessment, and Restoration Act. During his time as a North Carolina State Senator, Mr. Davis voted for the state’s 2021 budget, making the largest statewide flood mitigation investment in North Carolina’s history. The budget also created the first-of-its-kind Flood Resiliency Blueprint to drive data-informed planning and decision-making to reduce flood risk.
Mr. Davis lives in Greene County, North Carolina, with his wife, Yuvonka, and their three sons.
