Barbara Blonder is a commissioner for the City of St. Augustine, Florida. She is an associate professor of Natural Sciences at Flagler College, and was instrumental in the creation of Flagler College’s flagship Coastal Environmental Science program, the first major of its kind in the history of the college. With her bachelor’s degree in Zoology from the University of New Hampshire, and master of science in Marine Biology from Florida Tech, Commissioner Blonder returned to St. Augustine in 2001 to work for the Florida Chapter of The Nature Conservancy, before taking the a position at Flagler College. Prior to 2001, she worked as an environmental scientist for the Florida Park Service and as a conservation planner for The Nature Conservancy and the National Estuarine Research Reserve and has held other positions within higher education, including Flagler College Faculty Senate Chair and Director of Undergraduate Research.
