The American Flood Coalition has proven to be extremely valuable to cities like Largo. Through the AFC, our team and I have gained knowledge and established connections that will help our city become less susceptible to the catastrophic impact of storms and flooding.
Mayor Woody Brown grew up in Indian Rocks Beach and attended Largo High School in Largo, Florida. He was elected Mayor in 2014 and was re-elected in 2016. Previously he served two terms as Commissioner in the city. He is a member of the Largo Emergency Management Planning Committee and has previously been an active member of the United States Conference of Mayors, the Florida League of Cities, and the Mayors’ Council of Pinellas County, Inc.
City of Largo is a part of the Tampa Bay Regional Resiliency Coalition where they collaborate with neighboring municipalities to set regionally consistent ordinances that improve flooding. The City is also currently updating its Sustainability and Resilience Action Plan (SRAP) to develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive strategy to advance sustainability and resilience within the community.
Mayor Brown received a BS in Biology from the University of Central Florida, and a Doctorate of Chiropractic from Life University, College of Chiropractic in Marietta, Georgia. He remains active in the Pinellas County Chiropractic Society and has served on the Board of Directors since 2003.
