Bill Saffo

Mayor of Wilmington, NC

I’m excited to be a part of the American Flood Coalition.  I value the advocacy and technical expertise provided by AFC to local leaders to ensure we are putting forward the best policy, with respect to alleviating flooding.

Bill has served on the Wilmington City Council since 2003 and has served as mayor since 2006.

A native of Wilmington, Saffo graduated from Hoggard High School and went on to receive a bachelor of arts degree from UNC-Wilmington. Bill serves on many boards and commissions including the Wilmington Regional Film Commission. He is also a board member of the New Hanover Tourism Development Authority Board and an ex-officio board member of the Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.

Bill will tell you that he loves to spend time with friends and family and finds it very satisfying to serve as mayor of his hometown. Bill feels one of the great things we can do in our lives is to give back through public service.
