Carlos Curbelo

Former Congressman, Florida

There is a growing, bipartisan coalition of leaders in Congress working towards effective and market-oriented solutions to sea level rise. I am proud to stand with these men and women to help protect our people, property, and future.

Carlos Curbelo served Florida constituents as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019. During his time in Congress, he created and co-chaired the bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus and was one of the early founding members of the American Flood Coalition. Previously, Curbelo was the founder of his own public and media relations firm and in 2002 he co-founded Centre Court Charities, a non-profit organization that runs summer basketball leagues for South Florida high school students.

In 2009, Curbelo was named State Director for U.S. Senator George LeMieux and took responsibility for overseeing staff in seven offices throughout the state, while also advising the Senator on Latin-American policy and Hispanic issues. Curbelo was then appointed to the Miami-Dade Metropolitan Planning Organization, a group of community leaders tasked with prioritizing local transportation and infrastructure projects.

In 2010, Carlos was elected to the Miami-Dade County School Board, which oversaw the fourth largest school district in the country at the time. He was elected to Congress to represent the people of southern Florida first in 2014 and reelected in 2016. Curbelo served on the prestigious House Committee on Ways and Means.

Curbelo received his B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Miami, where he then earned his M.P.A.
