New Smyrna Beach

Volusia County, Florida

New Smyrna Beach is located on the central east coast of Florida in Volusia County and holds the rare distinction of being the second oldest city in the state. Known for its beautiful beaches and rich history, New Smyrna is home to 26,500 residents.

New Smyrna Beach has been named one of Florida’s “Top 10 Beach Towns” (USA Today) and one of the best beach communities in the United States (Coastal Living Magazine). It hosts spacious and clean beaches that have been lauded by tourism experts, as well as an abundance of wildlife, marine life, and native Florida vegetation.

New Smyrna’s Community Rating System Floodplain Management Plan is incorporated in Volusia County’s Multi-Jurisdictional Local Mitigation Strategy, which identifies flooding as the most frequent and costly natural hazard in the area. To address this concern, the city has made available tools residents can utilize to protect their homes, businesses, and communities. Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) and other essential resources are distributed through the city’s Engineering Department and New Smyrna Beach Regional Library.
