Clay County

Florida

Clay County is situated in Northeast Florida and lies southwest of the City of Jacksonville and west of historic St. Augustine. Clay County’s entire eastern border is nestled along the banks of St. Johns River with miles of undeveloped woodlands around the interior.

Founded almost one hundred and fifty years ago, Clay County has developed into a diverse mixture of suburban and rural areas, with forty-six square miles of lakes and rivers. Community members enjoy some of the region’s best public parks and other vast natural, historic, recreational and agricultural resources.

Clay County has developed the 2040 Comprehensive Plan to serve as a guide for further growth of the County. The plan comprises various improvement elements including service standards for solid waste, potable water, wastewater, stormwater management, public schools, recreation, mass transit, and transportation. Stormwater management improvements are incorporated into designs for site plans, subdivisions, and road constructions.

The Clay County Board of Commissioners operates with the goal of providing for the quality of life, safety, and health of the County’s citizens.
