Christine Hunschofsky

State Representative, Florida-96th District

Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Representative Christine Hunschofsky attended high school at Boston Latin School, which is the oldest public school in the United States. She later graduated with Bachelor’s Degrees in Business Administration and Philosophy from Boston University and continued her studies at Babson College where she earned her MBA and received the Ernst and Young Accounting Award. 

In 2000, Christine and her husband, Hannes, moved to Parkland, Florida in 2000, where they raised their sons Michael and John and still reside today. 

In 2003, Representative Hunschofsky covered the Parkland City Commission for Parkland Life Magazine, which gave her a comprehensive understanding of government on the city level. From 2006-2013, Representative Hunschofsky served on Parkland’s Education Advisory Board where she initiated the City of Parkland Scholarship Program and spearheaded the Walk to School Day and anti-bullying campaign.  In 2013 she was elected Commissioner in the City of Parkland. 

During her time on the commission, she also served on the Broward County Public School Board Oversight Committee, the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization, her Homeowners’ Association Board and participated in the Good Government Initiative. Representative Hunschofsky’s memberships include the Greater Broward Pap Corps, the Parkland Friends of the Library, and the Mary Help of Christian’s Women’s Club.  She currently serves on the Advisory Board for In Jacob’s Shoes. 

In 2016, Representative Christine Hunschofsky was the second woman in Parkland’s history to be elected Mayor and the first in over 30 years. She was reelected without opposition in 2018.  During her time as Mayor, Representative Hunschofsky was appointed to co-chair the United States Conference of Mayors Small Cities Forum, testified before the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force of the 116th Congress, and served on the Broward League of Cities School and Community Public Safety Task Force. In 2019, she joined the American Food Coalition and advocated for flood mitigation legislation in Washington DC.  In that same year, she was inducted into the Broward County Women’s Hall of Fame. Representative Christine Hunschofsky was elected to the Florida House of Representatives as the State Representative for District 96 in November 2020.
