Ted Davis serves in the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 19 in New Hanover County. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Wake Forest University School of Law. Ted served on the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners from 1996 – 2012 before being appointed and then successfully running for legislative office in 2012.
Prior to holding elected office, he served as an Assistant New Hanover County Attorney, Assistant State District Attorney, and Assistant United States Attorney before ultimately establishing his own law practice in 1984 until his retirement.
Rep. Davis is Senior Chair of the Judiciary Committee, Chair of the Appropriations- Justice and Public Safety Committee, Vice-Chair of the Education-Universities Committee, and serves on the Rules, Calendar, and Operations of the House; Elections and Ethics Law; and Environment Committees. In addition, he is a member of the House Leadership Team.
Ted and his wife Jane have been married for 40 years and have two children, as well as 4 grandchildren. He has served as a Deacon and Elder at St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church and has been actively involved with various local organizations including the Arlie Gardens Foundation, Azalea Festival Committee, Cape Fear Community College Board of Trustees, UNCW Seahawk Club Board of Directors, Wilmington Regional Film Commission, and the Wilmington-Cape Fear Rotary Club.
