Named after Earth Day founder and former U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson, the University of Wisconsin – Madison Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies connects experts across more than 50 academic fields, from the humanities, business, law and engineering to the biological, physical, medical and social sciences. The Institute offers a variety of graduate and undergraduate degree options. It coordinates high-level research on an array of critical environmental issues. And it is a committed practitioner of the Wisconsin Idea, serving the needs of communities from the local to the international. From individual student internships to large-scale research and outreach programs, the Institute partners with businesses, non-profit organizations and government agencies to help solve some of society’s most pressing issues and train tomorrow’s leaders.
