Palm Beach Shores

Palm Beach County, Florida

The Town of Palm Beach Shores is a town located in Palm Beach County, Florida. Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, Palm Beach Shores is a haven for roughly 1,300 residents.

Palm Beach Shores is a small, vibrant community with a high quality of life and residential feel. The town is on a barrier island and is home to the easternmost point in the State of Florida.

Due to its location, Palm Beach Shores is vulnerable to flooding and sea level rise. The Vulnerability Analysis of the Southeast Florida to Sea Level Rise was performed to determine vulnerability of four counties, including Palm Beach County. The analysis provides 1, 2, and 3 foot sea level rise scenarios and determined that of the four counties, Palm Beach County has a higher topography than many and a lack of natural and man-made waterways west of the Intracoastal Waterway. This helps to limit potential impacts of sea level rise, but the town will still need to be proactive with resilience measures.

Palm Beach Shores benefits from the Palm Beach County Coastal Resilience Partnership (CRP) which received funding from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Florida Resilient Coastlines Program (FRCP) in order to take a coordinated approach to planning for sea level rise and coastal resilience efforts. CRP will lay the groundwork to achieve a regional resilience planning strategy that works for all communities.
