Davie is a town in Broward County, Florida, with a population of over 103,000 residents who live across a lush 35 square miles within central Broward County. The Town of Davie is a warm, close-knit community with a rich heritage and many connections to the past. The Town is fortunate to draw from its pioneer families the history of the area and the stories of those who first helped to develop the Town. Over a century ago, Davie was known as Zona, and was a vast agricultural land that struggled to support its community. Today, the Town of Davie is a dynamic and unique community located in the heart of one of the state’s highest growth areas.

The green open spaces, numerous parks, and over 165 miles of trail system that the Town offers, along with the opportunity to live an equestrian lifestyle, are amenities that can’t be found elsewhere in today’s growing South Florida. Davie is also the nexus of higher education in South Florida where several nationally known colleges, technical institutes, and universities make up the South Florida Educational Center. The sprawling educational complex fosters an environment that separates the Town of Davie from all other municipalities in Broward County.

The Town’s diversified economic base combined with a low rate of taxation work to create a healthy local economy. The Town of Davie business climate ranges from small proprietor to the headquarters of Fortune 500 firms such as Andrx Pharmaceuticals. Davie is ideally located among major thoroughfares such as the Ronald Reagan Turnpike, I-595, I-75, and is within a few minutes travel to Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood International Airport and Florida’s deepest port, Port Everglades.

Residents of the Town of Davie are kept informed of flood hazards and best practices for protecting people and property. Outlined within the Town’s 2019-2023 strategic plan are efforts to increase the National Flood Insurance Program’s Community Rating System score to reduce flood insurance costs for homeowners as much as possible, as well as plans to harden all critical infrastructure to mitigate the risk. Additionally, Broward County is tackling the issues of flooding and sea level rise with action plans and many resources for residents within its cities and towns.
