Neptune Beach

Duval County, Florida

Neptune Beach is a beachfront city east of Jacksonville in Duval County, Florida, with a population of over 7,000. It is a small, quiet coastal community nestled on the northeast coast of Florida between Atlantic Beach and Jacksonville Beach.

When the majority of Duval County communities consolidated with Jacksonville in 1968, Neptune Beach, along with Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, and Baldwin, remained quasi-independent. According to the best accepted story, the name “Neptune Beach” originated in 1922 with Dan G. Wheeler, one of the few residents, who had built his own train station in order to shorten his walking commute and named the station Neptune.

Neptune Beach has a comfortable, casual and laid-back atmosphere that invites people of all ages to enjoy the beach and other areas of natural beauty. The hard-packed sand is great for cycling and the waves are ideal for surfing. The city boasts public beaches, beautiful parks, and the destinations like the Jacksonville Beach Pier.
