Palm Beach County, Florida

The Town of Highland Beach is located in the southern portion of eastern Palm Beach County, Florida, and encompasses 1.1 total square miles. Bounded on the north and northwest by the City of Delray Beach and on the south and southwest by the City of Boca Raton. The town features eastern views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway to the west. The Town’s “main street” is a beautiful tree-lined stretch of Florida’s state road A1A.

Highland Beach is a residential community with a year-round population of 4,150 which increases to approximately 8,500 during the winter months. The town is known for its quiet and relaxing beaches, which serve as critical nesting grounds for endangered sea turtles.

Much of the land in Highland Beach lays below sea level, leaving many homes in the beautiful town at risk for flooding. As the other cities in Palm Beach County share this risk, the county is focused on working both regionally and county-wide to both adapt to and mitigate the impacts of sea level rise.
